Ingredients
  

  • 1 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tbsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 1/2 cups shredded sharp cheddar cheese
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 1/3 cup unsalted butter, melted (plus extra for brushing)
  • 1 large egg

Instructions
 

  • Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a standard loaf pan.
  • In a large bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, salt, and garlic powder.
  • Fold in the shredded cheddar cheese until evenly coated with the flour mixture.
  • In a separate bowl, whisk together buttermilk, melted butter, and egg until smooth.
  • Pour wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir until just combined. Do not overmix.
  • Transfer batter to the prepared pan, smooth the top, and bake for 45–50 minutes until a toothpick comes out clean.
  • Brush the warm loaf with melted butter immediately after baking.
  • Allow to cool slightly, then slice and serve warm.

Notes

Use freshly shredded cheese for the best melt and texture. Avoid overmixing the batter to keep the loaf tender. Brush with butter while warm for extra flavor.
