Ingredients
  

  • 1 box strawberry cake mix (15.25 oz)
  • 0.5 cup butter, melted and cooled
  • 1 large egg
  • 4 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 30 chocolate kisses, unwrapped
  • powdered sugar or pink granulated sugar (optional)

Instructions
 

  • In a large bowl, mix the strawberry cake mix, melted butter, and egg until smooth.
  • Add the softened cream cheese and mix until fully incorporated and thick.
  • Cover the dough and refrigerate for at least 1 hour.
  • Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and line baking sheets with parchment paper.
  • Scoop the dough into tablespoon-sized portions and roll into balls.
  • Roll the dough balls in powdered sugar or pink sugar if desired.
  • Place cookies 2 inches apart on the baking sheets and bake for 8–10 minutes until edges are set.
  • Let cookies rest for 1–2 minutes, then gently press a chocolate kiss into the center of each.
  • Transfer cookies to a wire rack and cool completely.

Notes

Chilling the dough is essential to prevent spreading. Press the chocolate kiss gently to keep its shape. These cookies are best enjoyed within a few days for optimal softness.
