Equipment

  • box grater
  • large mixing bowl
  • mixing spoon
  • 8×8-inch baking dish
  • Oven

Ingredients

  • 3 large sweet potatoes, peeled and finely grated
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1/2 cup light brown sugar, packed
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs, beaten
  • 1/4 cup whole milk
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp ground nutmeg
  • 1/4 tsp ground ginger
  • 1/2 tsp pure vanilla extract

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and lightly grease an 8x8-inch baking dish.
  • In a large bowl, combine grated sweet potatoes, melted butter, brown sugar, granulated sugar, eggs, milk, and vanilla. Stir until thick and evenly blended.
  • Add cinnamon, nutmeg, and ginger, mixing gently until uniform and fragrant.
  • Spread the mixture evenly into the prepared baking dish. Bake uncovered for 45–55 minutes until golden brown with set edges and a soft center.
  • Allow to cool for 10–15 minutes before slicing. Serve warm or at room temperature.

Notes

Finely grate sweet potatoes for the smoothest texture. Let melted butter cool slightly before mixing with eggs. Do not overbake to keep the center moist. Flavor improves after resting.
