Equipment

  • Mixing bowl
  • Whisk
  • 9×13-inch baking dish
  • Measuring cups and spoons
  • Oven

Ingredients

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 0.5 cup granulated sugar
  • 0.5 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 0.5 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 0.5 tsp salt
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 4 ripe bananas, sliced
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 0.5 tsp nutmeg (optional)

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and allow it to fully heat.
  • In a large bowl, whisk together flour, granulated sugar, brown sugar, baking powder, and salt until evenly combined.
  • Pour in melted butter, milk, and vanilla extract and stir gently until a smooth batter forms.
  • Lightly grease a 9×13-inch baking dish with butter or nonstick spray.
  • Spread the batter evenly into the prepared baking dish.
  • Arrange banana slices evenly over the batter.
  • Mix cinnamon and nutmeg together and sprinkle evenly over the bananas.
  • Bake for 45–50 minutes until golden brown and a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  • Let the cobbler rest for 10 minutes before serving.

Notes

Use very ripe bananas for the best flavor. Allow the cobbler to rest for 10 minutes after baking so the filling sets properly. Best served warm with ice cream or whipped cream.
