Ingredients
  

  • 4 slices of bread (sourdough, white, or whole wheat)
  • 2 tbsp butter (softened)
  • ½ cup marinara or pizza sauce
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • ¼ cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 12 slices turkey pepperoni (or your favorite topping)
  • ½ tsp garlic powder
  • ½ tsp Italian seasoning
  • 2 tbsp chopped fresh basil (optional)

Optional Add-Ins:

  • Sliced mushrooms, olives, or bell peppers for a veggie version
  • Red pepper flakes or jalapeños for spice lovers
  • Swap turkey pepperoni for vegan pepperoni to make it meatless

Instructions
 

  • Prepare the Bread
    Spread butter evenly on one side of each bread slice. Sprinkle the buttered sides with garlic powder and Italian seasoning — this gives you that signature pizza aroma as it toasts.
  • Assemble the Sandwich
    Place two slices of bread butter-side down on a clean surface. Spread marinara sauce on the inner sides. Add a layer of mozzarella, Parmesan, and pepperoni (or your chosen toppings). Cap with the other slices, buttered side up.
  • Toast Until Golden
    Heat a skillet over medium-low. Place the sandwiches in and cook for about 3–4 minutes per side. Press lightly with a spatula to help the cheese melt evenly. Flip carefully when the underside turns golden brown and crisp.
  • Serve and Enjoy
    Transfer to a cutting board and rest for a minute (it’s hot!). Slice diagonally, garnish with fresh basil, and serve with a side of warm marinara for dipping.
