Equipment

  • large pot
  • cutting board
  • chef’s knife
  • ladle

Ingredients

  • 12 frozen pork potstickers (or chicken/vegetable dumplings)
  • 4 cups low-sodium chicken broth
  • 1 tablespoon fresh ginger, minced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup mixed vegetables (bok choy, carrots, or mushrooms)
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil
  • 2 green onions, thinly sliced
  • salt or soy sauce, to taste

Instructions

  • Mince the garlic and ginger, and slice vegetables into bite-size pieces.
  • In a large pot over medium heat, bring the chicken broth to a gentle simmer.
  • Add frozen potstickers directly to the simmering broth and cook according to package directions until tender.
  • Stir in garlic, ginger, and vegetables. Simmer for 3–4 minutes until vegetables are just tender.
  • Drizzle in sesame oil and adjust seasoning with salt or soy sauce to taste.
  • Ladle soup into bowls, garnish with sliced green onions, and serve hot.

Notes

Keep the broth at a gentle simmer so dumplings don’t break apart. Add sesame oil at the end to preserve its aroma. Taste and adjust seasoning just before serving for the best balance.
