Equipment

  • baking sheet
  • Mixing bowl
  • spatula or butter knife

Ingredients

  • 1 loaf Texas toast or thick-sliced white bread
  • 0.5 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 3 cloves garlic, finely minced
  • 1.5 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 0.5 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • salt, to taste
  • 1 tbsp fresh parsley, chopped (optional)

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper or foil.
  • In a small bowl, mix the softened butter, minced garlic, and a pinch of salt until smooth.
  • Spread the garlic butter evenly on both sides of each slice of bread.
  • Arrange the bread slices in a single layer on the prepared baking sheet.
  • Sprinkle mozzarella and cheddar cheese evenly over each slice.
  • Bake for 10–12 minutes until the cheese is melted, bubbly, and edges are lightly golden.
  • For extra crispiness, broil for 1–2 minutes, watching closely.
  • Remove from the oven, garnish with parsley if desired, and serve warm.

Notes

Use softened butter for easy spreading and freshly shredded cheese for the best melt. Watch closely when broiling to avoid burning.
