Equipment

  • Mixing bowls
  • Whisk
  • loaf pan or baking sheet
  • Measuring cups and spoons
  • Oven

Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tbsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 tbsp sugar
  • 3/4 cup milk
  • 2 tbsp olive oil or melted butter
  • 1 tsp honey

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C). Grease a loaf pan or line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  • In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, salt, and sugar until evenly combined.
  • In a separate bowl, mix the milk, olive oil, and honey until smooth.
  • Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and gently stir until just combined. Do not overmix.
  • Transfer the dough into the prepared loaf pan or shape into a rustic round on the baking sheet.
  • Bake for 15–18 minutes, or until the top is golden and a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  • Brush the warm bread with butter if desired. Slice and serve immediately.

Notes

Do not overmix the dough to keep the bread light. Always fully preheat the oven for proper rise. Brushing the loaf with butter after baking enhances both flavor and softness. Best enjoyed fresh, but freezes well.
