Ingredients
  

  • 2 slices bread (sourdough, whole grain, or white)
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/4 cup shredded cheese (cheddar, mozzarella, or blend)
  • 1 tbsp butter or margarine
  • salt, to taste
  • black pepper, to taste
  • chopped chives or parsley (optional garnish)

Instructions
 

  • Preheat the air fryer to 370°F (188°C) for even cooking.
  • Lightly butter both sides of each bread slice, making sure to coat the edges.
  • Use the back of a spoon to press a shallow well into the center of each slice.
  • Crack one egg into each well, keeping the yolk centered, and season with salt and pepper.
  • Place the bread slices flat in the air fryer basket and air fry for 6–8 minutes, until the egg whites are set.
  • Sprinkle shredded cheese evenly over each egg, then return to the air fryer for 1–2 minutes until melted.
  • Remove carefully, garnish with herbs if desired, and serve hot.

Notes

Use thick-cut bread to prevent sogginess and ensure the egg stays centered. Cooking time may vary slightly by air fryer model—check early for runny yolks or extend for firmer eggs. This recipe is best enjoyed fresh.
